Our Philadelphia client’s main objective was to join their outdoor and indoor spaces to create one cohesive entertaining space. With the help of our trade partners, Orion Builders, they created a small addition onto their existing historic brownstone, which allowed them to expand the kitchen footprint, and made room for the addition of the Nana Wall Systems folding glass doors, which create a generous opening to the exterior patio.
The existing kitchen space was a very cramped galley-style kitchen, basically a hallway. It had vintage metal cabinetry and countertops, and oddly sized outdated appliances. This space did not work for our clients, who love to cook and entertain with family and friends. It was too small to have two people working in the space, let alone host a party.
The new expansive kitchen space was meticulously designed hand-in-hand with the clients, who had specific locations chosen for each of their many kitchen gadgets and supplies. They had been planning their dream kitchen for years, and they were prepared. State of the art Miele, Fisher + Paykel, and Subzero appliances were selected and integrated into the space, with the main refrigerator, dishwashers (there are two!) and wine refrigerator being paneled to blend in with the cabinetry. Another of the showpieces of this kitchen is their 60” Galley workstation sink.
This kitchen is the combination of form and function at its best! It maintains a sleek look, while being a true workhorse space for our accomplished home chefs. Cabinetry highlights include an auto-opening foot sensor trash can, Hettich bi-fold opening cabinet doors, custom hood with brass accents, appliance garage with pocketing doors, countertop spice pull out cabinet with custom paper towel dispenser, and hidden wine storage bookcase door.
